With a youth race and an open race, this event provides one of the few cross-country running opportunities for kids and adults in Massachusetts. Whether you are new to cross-country or a veteran of the trails, this is a race for you! Sunday October 9, 2011 Four Great Events! 3K Race For Ages 11 to 14 - 9:30 AM Start 3K Race For Ages 10 and Under - 10:00 AM Start 5K Open Men's Race - 10:45 AM Start 5K Open Women's Race - 11:30 AM Start This is not only a great race to run; it's also a great race to watch! Spectators can see the competitors during many parts of the races. We have a solid group of sponsors this year, enabling us to present even more awards than last year, have a great raffle and offer lots of refreshments. Our presenting sponsor is Baldwin Insurance Agency. Awards include gift certificates from Inov-8 and Marathon Sports, trophies and medals. And the races include team competitions. The 5K open race has been selected to be part of the USATF-NE XC Grand Prix and the Eastern New England Trail Race Series. _________________________________________________________________________ KICKS FOR CANCER GAME Saturday October 1st CONCORD CARLISLE HS Good evening, As the week begins, this is a friendly reminder that the Varsity Boys' Soccer Team will be playing Acton-Boxborough at Concord-Carlisle for the Kicks for Cancer Game this Saturday night at 7:30PM. Attached you will find a flyer with more details. Coaches of all sports: If your team is not playing, maybe you could rally them to attend the game to support us and the fight against cancer. We would love to see a sea of orange behind us as we take the field in our pink shirts! Finally, raffle tickets are still available for sale this week until Wednesday. CORRECTION & Cancelations HighSchoolSports.net 9/22/11 Due to a system bug with the schedulestar software (scheduling format for highschoolsports.net) WHS Athletics will be unable to delete the Thursday 9/22 Varsity XC race between AB/BL & Wayland from the on- line schedule. This event was implemented by error and will not be played on 9/22. Varsity XC meet between AB/BL & Wayland will be held Tuesday 9/27 @ Wayland High, 4pm. The Wayland Frosh Field Hockey game vs. Weston has been cancelled for 9/19/11. I am eager to get the ball rolling (pun intended) when it comes to getting everyone thinking about the upcoming basketball season this winter, and what better way than with a weekend basketball clinic? I attended this clinic throughout middle school AND high school, so I know from personal experience that this is a quality clinic with veteran coahces. It is an excellent opportunity to get out there and improve your skills, and have a ball doing it! It is coached by former MA Wildcat coaches, Mark Sweetland and Peter Scaffidi. They have had over 100 players come through their clinics who have played NCAA Div I, II and III Varsity basketball. YOU WILL LEARN A LOT, NO MATTER AT WHAT LEVEL YOU'RE AT.

______________________________________________________________________ EXTENDED DEADLINE FOR ATHLETIC CLEARANCE PACKETS EXTENDED DEADLINE FOR ATHLETIC CLEARANCE PACKETS The Wayland Athletic department has extended the athletic clearance packet deadline to Friday August 19. Any athlete participating in a fall, winter and/or spring sport must have packet in by 3pm on 8/19. (The office closes at 3pm) Athletes NOT participating in the fall but playing a winter and/or spring sport, ONLY need to have their packet in by Friday August 19. ONLY FALL ATHLETES NEED TO HAVE GREEN FORM STAMPED FOR FALL TRYOUTS. ANY PACKET RECEIVED AFTER AUG. 10 WILL NOT BE SUBMITTED FOR THE 2011-2012 SPORTS SEASON. _____________________________________________________________________ IMPORTANT!!! - ATHLETIC PACKET REGISTRATION Due to paving at the high school, the fall registration location has been changed to the Wayland Town Pool (Wayland HS). All individuals must park at the basketball court located near the HS varsity softball field (near town pool). All fall participants must attend registration in order to verify all forms are correct, payment is complete and physical is updated. Parents may represent their child during registration if they are unable to attend. Winter and spring athletes are not required to attend fall registration days. Winter and spring season registration days will be announced prior to each season. Registration Days Wednesday 8/3 & Thursday 8/4 Individuals unable to attend the remaining registration days must come to school campus during summer hours, M-Thurs 9am-230pm, to verfiy packets are complete. _____________________________________________________________________ ATHLETIC PACKET REMINDER!!! Please be sure to have Athletic Clearance Packet sent to athletics office no later than August 10. This applies to all fall, winter and spring sports. Athletic packets handed in after August 10 will not be submitted. Athletes participating in fall sports will need to check in on August 2, 3, or 4 in HS main lobby. Athletes will be checked off by nurse and athletic department staff. Check in times are from 10am - 1pm. Please be sure to have payment (check or online receipt) and updated physical when checking in. Athletes will not receive green form if check, receipt or updated physical are not submitted on check in dates. Packets provided to athletics office prior to check in dates will be available when athlete arrives on campus on August 2, 3, or 4 from 10am - 1pm.
